SNOWBALL FIGHT!

SNOWBALL FIGHT!

Okay, just kidding! No snowball fights here!

But we are hoping for the snowball effect.

We recently were approved for an amazing grant that will allow the Sanctuary to be more accessible! We’ll be using the funds to put in sidewalks that make our grounds a safer place to move around in.

Where does the snowball effect come in?

Well, as you probably know, we have lots of plans for our little slice of heaven, but we can’t do it without YOU!

Our ideas can only come to life with the help of government grants and donations from the public!

Our biggest desire is to have an enclosed pavilion.

It will provide a covered area where we can host our fundraising events and provide a meeting space for groups like Scouts, The Retriever Club, the home school groups who currently hold their meetings on our property.

Additionally, renting the space out for other events would create a stream of revenue will help with our operational expenses.

Kilt Run at the Kingsville High Games

Kilt Run at the Kingsville Highland games

We are so grateful to announce that a portion of every registration fee from this year’s 5k Kilt run will be donated directly to support The Jack Miner Migratory Bird Sanctuary and the Kingsville Military Museum.

With $10 from each 5K Kilt Run registration fee (or $5 from 12 years-and-under age group), each registration helps make a difference as we work towards building an even better space for our community to reconnect with history and nature.

Celebrating Jack’s 157th Birthday 🎉

The History of Jack Miner Bird Sanctuary

Did you know that Jack Miner’s love for birds started when he was just a young boy?

He spent his days as a school-aged boy in creeks and woods studying the habits of waterfowl and other wildlife.

By age 40, he had already formed one of the first Game Protection Associations and founded The Jack Miner Migratory Bird Sanctuary for the conservation of migrating Canada geese and wild ducks.

Jack accomplished many amazing things in his lifetime, and we are here to celebrate him!

Join us for Jack’s Birthday and National Wildlife Week

This Sunday marks Jack Miner’s 157th birthday!

Join us at the Sanctuary for a Sportsmen Yard Sale and a re-opening ceremony where we will celebrate with 157 cupcakes.

There will also be a very special announcement made that you won’t want to miss!

The fun will continue throughout the week and conclude with children’s activities, nature walks and open doors to the museum and house on Friday, April 15th.

Spring has Landed Here! 🌿

Spring has landed
at the Sanctuary!

It’s been a long and chilly winter and we’re incredibly happy that the longer (and sunnier) days have arrived!

Here is what we have on the go this spring:

As you know, one of our favourite times of the year is when we celebrate our founder’s, Jack Miner, birthday. Lucky for us, the week of his birthday has been dubbed National Wildlife Week, which means we get to celebrate longer.

Come enjoy the outdoors, a museum tour and grab a cupcake to celebrate 157 years of Jack!

Banding Together

Did you know that when you donate to The Jack Miner Migratory Bird Sanctuary you’re not just helping to create a safe place for migratory birds, you’re also helping us create a space for families and children to land.

One of our goals is to build a playground for children of all ages to enjoy!

Every donation brings us closer to our goal and closer to an all inclusive community!

You can also donate by mailing a cheque to The Jack Miner Migratory Bird Sanctuary at

360 Rd 3 W, Kingsville, ON, N9Y 2E5

All donations greater than $25 are eligible for a tax receipt.
